Judith H. Sprague Obituary

Judith "Judy" Hartman Sprague, age 77, left this world peacefully with family and friends by her side after bravely battling breast cancer. Judy is survived by her loving partner of 33 years, M. Brooks Solewater of Gloucester, Massachusetts, her two devoted sons, Shaw Sprague Jr. of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, his wife Maggie, Zachary Hartman Sprague of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, his wife Colleen and Judy's four adoring grandchildren, Gigi, Shaw, Ridgley, and Ollie. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Raymond Hartman of Hollister, California, his wife Camille and many nieces and nephews.

Originally from Saratoga, California, Judy often reminisced and shared fond memories of a perfect childhood. One of her favorite memories was riding her horse through her family's apricot orchard. Judy left behind many friends who will cherish the memories made with her. Everyone that knew Judy loved her, in fact, she would be the first to tell you so.

Judy was an artist at heart and had a keen eye for rare books, art and other antiquities which led to the creation of Hart and Sole, a business she created with her beloved Brooks Solewater.

Friends and family have fabulous memories of Judy calling them to the piano while she played with everyone singing show tunes, old tunes or most any tune they could think of. Judy will be remembered for her generous spirit, strength of character but most of all her sense of adventure and playful sense of humor.

A private memorial service is being planned for the spring for close friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
