Lander LeRoy Obituary

Francis "Frank" LeRoy Lander, 94, husband of the late Ann M. Lander of Gloucester passed away peacefully at Hathorne Hill in Danvers on Monday, July 14, 2025. Frank was born in Essex, MA on May 4, 1931, and was the son of the late William and Grace (Burnham) Lander. Frank attended Gloucester High School and joined the United States Navy during the Korean war, attaining the rank of Radioman, Seaman 1st Class. Frank and Ann were married for 68 years and both enjoyed dancing and traveling. Frank loved to sing and would break out in song at any request (and sometimes without a request). He was past president and life member of the International Dory Racing Committee, past commander and life member of the American Legion, a member of the Moose Lodge and Disabled Veterans.

Frank is survived by his 2 daughters Barbara A. Dundin and her husband Paul, Cynthia J. Frost; his 2 sons Glenn W. Lander and Frankie L. Lander Jr. and his wife Joy of Nashua, New Hampshire; grandchildren Austin Dundin of Haverhill, MA, Matthew Dundin and his wife Kyleen of Essex, Nathan Frost and his wife Jennie of Gloucester, Corey Frost and his companion Amy Lashus of Gloucester and Jeffrey Lander; 6 great-grandchildren, Paul and Emma Dundin, Molliann Joy Goodchild, Astrid Laidlaw, Alessa Frost and Matthew "Ace" Dundin.

Frank had a very special relationship with Lenny Linquata. Every Christmas, he would be the first to volunteer to ring the Red Kettle bell. Frank was known for selling raffle tickets and took pride in selling the most – you just couldn't say no to Frank.

Frank was predeceased by his brother Roger Lander, his sisters Abbie French and Estelle Steward, and son-in-law, John Frost.

Visiting hour will be held in St. Ann's Church, 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester, on Saturday, July 19, from 9-10AM followed by a Mass at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
