Leanora R. Parisi Obituary
Leanora Rose (Orlando) Parisi, 81, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, in her winter home state of Florida after a brief hospital stay.
Born in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Fanny Orlando. She attended Gloucester Public Schools and graduated from Gloucester High School, with the class of 1960.
Following High School, she attended beauty School in Boston and began working as a licensed hairdresser.
She met the love of her life Sebastian "Buzzy" Parisi and the two would marry in October of 1965. That was the beginning of a 58-year run of the "Dora and Buzz Show" filled with a special love and devotion that never wavered.
She put her hair dressing career on hold in 1966 with the birth of the first of her three children. Being the mother to Frederick, Brian, and Dawn was the next part of her journey, and the part that she loved the most.
She returned to the work force when her children were in school and worked her way from cashier to manager at Cape Ann Market through its many name changes before retiring with Shaw's.
Nora loved people and could quickly become anybody's friend with just a few words. From lifelong friends and family here in her beloved Gloucester, to the many new friends she quickly found wintering in Port St. Lucie, Florida once she retired.
But nothing meant more to her than family and the times spent together at Pavilion or Niles Beach, Stage Fort Park, camping sites throughout New England, or wherever family would gather.
In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her grandchildren, Chloe and Max Flavin, Brady and Trevor Parisi, Lily, Madeline, and Reagan Parisi; siblings, Joanna Perry, Salvatore Orlando, Christine Orlando, Margaret Orlando, and Philip Orlando; brothers-in-law, Gene Perry, and John Parisi; sisters-in-law, Francis Orlando, Bonnie Orlando, Helen Downey, and Gerry Parisi.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Mike, Paul, and Dominic Orlando; brothers-in-law, Nicholas, Joseph, and Anthony Parisi; sisters-in-law, Laura, Margaret, Diane, and Sara Orlando, and Josephine Parisi.
Visiting hours in the Greely Funeral Home will be held Monday January 29, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 30, 2024, in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
