Manuel S. Nunes Obituary

Manuel "Manny" Soares Nunes, 75, of Gloucester, husband of Mariana B. (Neves) Nunes, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 20, 2022.

Manny immigrated to Gloucester in 1965. He made the journey alone but quickly became an active member of the community. Through his hard work, Manny established a new home which enabled the family he left behind to join him.

Manuel was a very hard worker. His dedication towards a better life for his family was only surpassed by his strong faith. He was a proud member of the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church and the D.E.S. Portuguese Club. Manny was forever giving and always willing to help anyone in any way he could.

Although he loved the life he created in Gloucester, Manny always kept a special place in his heart for his homeland, Pico, Azores. He made sure to enrich his children's lives by bringing them to the island as often as possible.

Manny is survived by his loving wife Mariana Nunes; son, Manny Nunes and his family Gail, Maxwell, and Maya; son, Bobby Nunes and his family Bethany, Nora, and Nolan; sister, Regina (Nunes) Soares and her husband Tony Soares; niece, Cindy (Soares) Martin her husband Jereme Martin; grandniece, Catarina Martin; grandnephew, Jameson Martin; nephew, Tony Soares and his wife Annie (Garcia) Soares; grandnieces, Aubrey Soares, Rylie Soares, and many cousins.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. All attendees are required to wear face coverings during Mass. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.

A visitation will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester prior to the Mass on Saturday from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
