Mary Ann Kirvan Obituary

Mary Ann Kirvan, 58, of Gloucester, passed away on June 24, 2023, surrounded by her family and the caring and dedicated staff of Vinfen group home in Beverly.

Mary Ann was born on December 8, 1964, to the late Peter and Evelyn Kirvan (Landry).

Mary Ann was born with down syndrome, and through that was given the ability to love others with a deep passion and show that love without motive or intention.

Maryann worked for many years through the Heritage Day program which connected her with friends and the workforce.

She loved to look at the ocean, go out shopping and out to eat. She loved a party, but if you gave her a card for her birthday, there better be at least a dollar in it or you might hear a deep sigh and see the eye roll. Sometimes people would compete to see who would get the present that was going to make Maryann get up and dance for joy. She loved to dance and enjoyed the many special-needs dances DJ'd by Leo Francis at the Gloucester Fraternity Club. She also loved the "girls" outings she had with her mom, sisters, and her niece Amanda. Christmas time was a very special time for Maryann, but, anytime with family was special to her.

No one loved a good joke more than Maryann, she would let you know how crazy you were, and if you didn't love the Patriots you better keep that to yourself. A Tom Brady fan to the core. She loved to bowl, draw, look at the Sunday paper, cheer on the Pats and eat all the ice cream.

Maryann will be missed by many who were lucky enough to know her. She was able to love the way we all wish we could, because it's the only way she knew how.

She is survived by her siblings Paul Kirvan and his wife Suzy, Peter Kirvan , Lisa Kirvan, Debbie Mione and her husband John, many nieces and nephews, and her special friend Caroline, who worked at Maryann's group home. The last words Maryann spoke were, I love you, and they were spoken to Caroline.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date to be announced. Thank you to all the individuals that added to the quality of Maryann's life. Our family appreciates each and every one of you.
