Maureen L. Scola Obituary

Maureen Linda (Laflam) Scola, age 77, passed away on January 17, 2026.

Born on June 14, 1948, in Gloucester, Massachusetts, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Minor and Doris Laflam and the devoted wife of her late husband and high school sweetheart, Paul Scola.

Maureen spent many years working in downtown Gloucester at the Curtain Shop, where she was known for her creativity and eye for beauty. She took pride in creating displays, both at work and in her own home.

Known for her fashion sense, Maureen always dressed her best from head to toe, no matter what the occasion. She had a great sense of humor and quick wit (her dad used to call her a spitfire) that brought laughter to those around her. One of her favorite activities was playing cards with her family (who called her The Rattlesnake) especially during the holidays, these are the moments she truly cherished.

Above all else, Maureen's greatest joy was her family. She was a proud mother and nana, but most of all, great-grandmother, (Nana Reenie) to Mason. She was looking forward to her second great-grandson, Keelin, due to arrive in March.

She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

She is survived by her children, Sean Scola, wife Verena, and Nicole Langley; grandchildren, Alyssa Biondo, fiancé Jack Burke, Madison Biondo, Dayna-Casey Biondo and partner Brenden Polisky, Tristan Scola, Cameron Scola, Meghan Morelli, Maya Morelli,; great-grandchild, Mason Hunter Burke; son-in-law, Jeremy Langley; siblings, Edward LaFlam, wife Lisa, Oliver LaFlam, wife Jackie, Paula Muniz, Beverly Bingley-Pullin, husband Bing, Janet Sinagra, husband Frank, Cynthia Fahey, husband Chris, and Carol LaFlam; sister-in-law, Tina LaFlam, and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her sister, Sandra Russo and brother, Ronald LaFlam.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services. A Celebration of Life will be held on a day and time to be announced.

Contributions may be made in her name to Boston Children's Hospital, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 Attn: Gift Services.
