Nikolai Joseph Klyce Obituary

Nikolai Joseph Klyce passed away on May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Though his time here was brief, Nikolai left a lasting impact on everyone who knew and loved him. From the very beginning, he showed a strength far greater than his size. He entered this world facing back-to-back open-heart procedures and met every challenge with a quiet resilience that inspired those around him. Nikolai fought hard, and his family is certain he was strengthened by the countless prayers, encouragement, and support sent from Gloucester and beyond.

Nikolai was deeply loved by his parents, Joseph John Klyce Sr. and Yu Qiao Klyce, and by his siblings, Joseph John Klyce Jr. and Samantha Klyce. He is survived by his great-grandmother, Gloria Klyce, as well as a large extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.

Even in his short time here, Nikolai found comfort in the simple things. He loved his first and only walk along the boulevard and always seemed to settle the moment his dad started up the truck for a cruise. Along the ocean he called home, his memory will live on in quiet moments, changing tides, and the return of spring each year.

Though his life was far too short, the love surrounding him was immeasurable. His strength, spirit, and determination will never be forgotten. The grit and courage Nikolai showed throughout his journey are qualities his family will draw upon as they navigate this profound loss. The outpouring of love, kindness, and support has been felt deeply and will never be forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held in Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, on Wednesday, June 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A service will follow immediately at 6 p.m. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nikolai's memory to Boston Children's Hospital through the memorial fund established in his honor.
