Paul B. Mitchell Obituary
Paul Brian Mitchell, 71, lifelong resident of Gloucester, MA, passed away on Christmas Day at Kaplan House Hospice Care in Danvers, MA after a valiant battle against cancer.
Paul was born in Beverly, MA on March 17, 1950. He was the son of the late Duart Albert (Dal) Mitchell and Ursula Patricia (Sonia) Mitchell. Paul attended Gloucester schools, graduating from Gloucester High in 1969.
Paul loved sports, both as a player and as a fan. He played little league and Babe Ruth baseball, and baseball, basketball and football at Gloucester High. He also played softball and coached girl's softball. He was a world class table-top hockey player.
Paul worked many years in the printing industry. He became an avid golfer in his forties. After retiring, he enjoyed many rounds of golf at Rockport Golf Club and Bass Rocks Golf Club, where he played with his beloved wife Ann. He made many life long friends through all of his athletic activities.
He is survived by his wife Ann, brother Albie Mitchell and wife Terry, brother Bob Mitchell, daughter Stephanie (Mitchell) Silva and her husband Jarrod Silva, and his grandson Griffin and granddaughter Brynn, stepson Michael Burbank and 3 generations of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Patricia Jean (Hill) Hurley, his daughter Hilary (Mitchell) Ryan, and his granddaughter Ruby Ryan.
His memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, Visitation Parish, School Street, Manchester, MA. Family and friends are cordially invited. Facial coverings are required.
