Phyllis A. Misuraca Obituary
Phyllis A. (Scola) Misuraca, 85, of Gloucester, wife of the late Thomas P. Misuraca Sr., passed away unexpectedly at Boston Medical Center on Monday, November 8, 2021. Phyllis was born in Gloucester, MA on December 1, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Frances Pauline (Testaverde) Scola.
Phyllis attended St. Ann's and Gloucester public schools before meeting her husband Tom. They married in 1955 and raised their family of six children in Gloucester. A devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother and great grandmother. Phyllis lived for her family. Her loving, giving and caring ways were a gift to all that knew her.
Phyllis was an avid sports fan, especially for the Red Sox. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting and loved to bake. Her house was always an Open House. She and her husband Tom always seemed to have a full stock of food and beverages sufficient to feed 5 or 10 people without notice. How they ever did that was always a mystery. She especially enjoyed the years of hosting summertime barbeques for her family by their backyard pool.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Scola and his wife Maureen, 2 daughters, Jenny Giacalone and her husband Vito, Pauline Coleman and her husband Bob all of Gloucester; 4 sons, Thomas P. Misuraca Jr. and his wife Karen, Lawrence Misuraca and companion Kim Keen, a special daughter in-law Jackie Misuraca, all of Gloucester, Paul Misuraca and his wife Cheryl of Stoughton, MA, Peter Misuraca and his wife Cathy of Gloucester; 12 grandchildren, Christopher, Vito, Nicholas and Marc Giacalone, Stephen Skinner, Alex Coleman, Elizabeth and Lawrence Misuraca, Brandon, Paul and Angelina Misuraca and Michelle Coyne; and 11 great-grandchildren; 4 sister in-laws Kathleen and Rosalia Scola, Mary Parisi and Cathy Wallace all of Gloucester and 1 brother in-law, John Misuraca of Fl and a special friend, Linda Hobbs.
She was predeceased by her parents and 4 sisters, Katie Cavanaugh, Rose Misuraca, Pauline Linquata and Maryann Jones as well as 4 brothers, Joseph, John, Lawrence and Peter Scola.
Her visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St. Gloucester on Sunday, November 14 from 2-5 p.m. Family and friends are cordially invited. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Monday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. followed by her burial in Calvary Cemetery.
