Priscilla A. White Obituary

Priscilla (Dionne) White, 87, of Gloucester, beloved wife of the late Frederick H. White Jr., passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022, at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Gloucester, MA on February 13, 1934, daughter of the late Leo J. and Marjorie (McDonald) Dionne.

Priscilla was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. She graduated from Gloucester High, class of 1951 and Salem State College, class of 1955, receiving her bachelor's degree in education. She enjoyed teaching in Gloucester for several years before raising her three children. She returned to work as an administrator in City Hall and as the Assistant Director of the Sawyer Free Library, a job she truly loved.

Priscilla was very active in Holy Family Parish, attending daily mass and serving as Lector and Eucharistic Minister, while volunteering with the Legion of Mary and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She often spoke fondly of her prowess with the St. Ann's CYO Girls Basketball Team in her youth. Along with spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren, Priscilla enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends. Fred and Priscilla enjoyed a wonderful life together, wintering in Florida for many years. After retirement, Priscilla enjoyed visiting patients at the Addison Gilbert Hospital and the Seacoast Nursing Home and creating and renewing friendships with shut-ins as a member of the Legion of Mary. She loved connecting with childhood friends and working on her high school reunion committee throughout her life. In the past several months, she adapted gracefully to life at Seacoast, where she formed and renewed friendships and appreciated the caregivers and staff.

Priscilla was known as a kind, loving and gracious lady throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Priscilla cherished her faith, family and friends immensely.

Priscilla is survived by daughter Marianne Springer and her husband Carsten; sons Fred White III and Leo White and wife Amy; sister Janice Knowles and husband Bob; grandchildren Daniel, Anna Lee, Elizabeth, Emma and Tess White and Peter and Kristiana Springer; her great-granddaughter Alexis White; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her brother, Rev. Leo J. Dionne, sisters Anne Libro and Marie Cantwell, and daughter-in-law Cheryl.

Visiting hours at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester will be held on Friday, January 21, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Ann's Church, Holy Family Parish on Saturday, January 22, at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.

All attendees are required to wear face coverings and practice social distancing during both visiting hours and at Mass.
