Raymond G. Callahan Obituary
Raymond G. Callahan, 88, of Gloucester husband of Frances A. (Gray) Callahan passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Care One at Essex Park, Beverly.
He was born in Boston, MA on March 2, 1935, son of the late Norman and Barbara (Gibbs) Callahan.
Raymond attended Springfield College, with courses from Harvard and MIT.
He worked for many years at Varian as a Staff Scientist/Technical Trainer in the field of Ion Implantation to many worldwide, a job he truly loved.
Raymond loved swimming, sail boating and later in life, family camping trips and reading, his thirst for knowledge was second to none.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Callahan; sister Dorothy Callahan; daughter, Catherine Silveira and her husband Henry; sons, William Callahan and his partner Anna French, Thomas Callahan and his wife Myriam; 9 grandchildren, Tony G. Favalora, Dawn Marie Favalora, Whitney Jean Callahan, Marleigh Callahan, Benjamin Callahan, Geoffrey Callahan, Eric Craaybeek, Dylan Craaybeek, and Meghan Craaybeek; 2 great-grandchildren, Phoenix G. Favalora and Caiden Taormina; and many other loved family members.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Jean Craaybeek and his brother, Bruce Callahan.
