Robert J. Bird Obituary

Robert J. Bird, 75, of Gloucester husband of Lynn M. (McGauley) Bird passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA.

He was born in Worcester, MA on April 14, 1948, son of the late Robert E. and Elaine F. (Duhamel) Bird.

Bob was a graduate of St John's High School, Clark University and received his master's in criminal justice from American International College. He was a member of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity at Clark University.

He retired from the Massachusetts State Police at the rank of Captain. He and his wife made Bonita Springs, Florida and Gloucester, Massachusetts their home. He was an avid reader of the mystery/ detective genre and cooking magazines.

Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn (McGauley) Bird; his sister-in-law, Christine (McGauley) O'Connell; nieces, Leah and Anna O'Connell and his brother, John P. Bird.

He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Laprade.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no memorial services.
