Ronald B. Johnson Obituary
Ronald B. Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after a brief illness.
Born December 5, 1955, he was the son of the late Dwight "Bill" Johnson and Patricia (Hurst) Johnson. He was a graduate of Gloucester High School. Ronnie grew up on Myrtle Square in Gloucester and lived there nearly his entire life in the family home that served multiple generations of Hursts and Johnsons.
As a young man, Ronnie worked at Ocean Crest Seafoods. For many years he worked alongside his uncle Carl Hurst for a longtime Gloucester company Ravenswood Spring Water and later worked behind the wheel of Gloucester Taxi.
Ronnie could so often be found sitting in his car at his favorite spots, along The Creek at Good Harbor Beach or out on the State Fish Pier to take in the cool breeze and the salt air.
Ronnie was a member of the Moose Lodge and various other social clubs where he would make the rounds to sign in and play his numbers. Over the years Ronnie spent time socializing with friends and enjoying Budweiser at local staples like The Depot, The Green Tavern, The Crow's Nest and Pratty's.
His crew at the 7-11 on Maplewood Avenue knew he would always be there for daily coffee and morning banter. Ronnie loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and while back home he would relax by completing jigsaw puzzles and watching old movies on VHS. For some reason, he was a lifelong Miami Dolphins fan.
Ronnie is survived by his brother, Kurt Johnson and his wife Kristine; sister, Nadine Mathews and her husband Thomas; sister, Sybil Militello; brother, Dwight and his wife Daleen, and niece, Kristen Parsons and her husband Rob. He had many beloved nieces and nephews including Matthew Johnson, Thomas and Jessica Mathews, Frank, Marissa, and Michaela Militello, Trevor Blank, Dwight and Kavan Johnson, and Elliana and Crofton Parsons.
A Graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery on Friday October 2, 2026, at 11:30. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
