Rose M. Novello Obituary
Rose M. (Orlando) Novello was reunited with her loving husband John on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, with her loving children by her side.
Rose was born in Gloucester on March 10, 1929 to Ambrose and Marie Antoinette (Militello) Orlando.
A lifelong resident of Gloucester, Rose grew up on Commercial Court with many of the original Gloucester Italian families. She loved to cook and bake.
Rose was one of the oldest members of the Madonna Del Rosario, past president of the St. Peter's Woman's Auxiliary, and member of Our Lady of Good Voyage Guild.
Rose was the last surviving member of 'The Club Ladies'. A group of friends that met every Tuesday night – rain or shine – for over 50 years.
She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren's accomplishments.
She is survived by her beloved children, Vincie & Samuel Bertolino of Bristol, RI, Joseph & Rosanne Novello, Marie & Rosario Maletti, of Gloucester, MA; grandchildren, Sam Bertolino & Carrie Ambrulvich of Orlando, Fl, Vincent & Traci Bertolino of Sutton, MA, John & Lisa Novello of Woburn, MA, Alexis Novello of Gloucester, Joseph & Johanna Maletti of Acton, MA, John Maletti of Gloucester, Jessica & Paul Marques of Attleboro, MA; Loving Grammie Rose to great-grandchildren, Sofia, Juliana, Gia Novello, Carter & Dillon Maletti, Thea Marques, and Coltin & Mason Hargrave; her sister, Mary Rubino; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Joseph, Vincie (Sam) Bologna, Grace (Robert) Spoon and brother-in-law, William Rubino.
Rose was the last matriarch of the Novello family. She is predeceased by Joseph (Lena), Nicholas (Rosalina), Salvatore (Ada), Anthony (Grace), and Domenic (Mary).
Visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Ann Church, Holy Family Parish on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
