Rosemary E. Whynott Obituary

Rosemary Edith (Clements) Whynott, 80, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her bedside on September 8, 2023 after a short battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

Rosemary was born in Ipswich, Massachusetts, on June 18, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Edith (Robichaud) Clements and the late Joseph Clements.

She graduated from Ipswich High School in 1961. She attended Burdett College in Lynn where she trained to be a medical secretary, graduating in 1963. Rosemary worked in multiple medical offices, including that of Dr. Francis Pirone, of whom Rosemary spoke fondly throughout her life. She completed her career at Cape Ann Surgical Associates, where she proudly served as the office manager from 1983 through her retirement in 2005.

Rosemary was the youngest of seven children and loved bringing her family together. Planning events like family reunions and parties (often in tandem with her older brother, the late David Clements) brought her a lot of joy.

Prior to 2020, her favorite night of the week was Wednesday, when she would listen to Fly Amero and his colleagues play live music at the Rhumb Line with her friends, including her sister-in-law, the late Gail Scola.

Rosemary was very creative and loved arts and crafts. She spent several years as a Girl Scout leader, but even when she was no longer involved with the Girl Scouts, she would still find ways to bring arts and crafts into her life. If you were lucky, she would send you a holiday card each year that would include a homemade Christmas ornament matching the front of the card.

She loved gardening, interior design, reading, word puzzles, and spending time with Jasper, the cat she adopted from Cape Ann Animal Aid in 2021. She was a member of 100 Women Who Care Cape Ann and was previously a member of Cape Ann Sportsman Club.

Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, Charles Arthur Whynott, Jr., with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. She is survived by her sister Doris Banks, her companion of 14 years Wib Goins, her daughter Melanie Lovell, her son-in-law Scott Lovell, her stepdaughter Tracy Wells, Tracy's husband Bruce Wells, and many other family members, all of whom she loved dearly.

Rosemary's burial will be private. The family extends to you a warm welcome to join them for brunch while celebrating Rosemary's life. This will take place at 10:00am at Danversport Waterfront, 161 Elliott Street, Danvers on September 23rd. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in Rosemary's name may be made to Wags 2 Riches Dog Rescue (Wags2RichesDogRescue.org) or The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (Cholangiocarcinoma.org).
