Shirley M. O'Maley Obituary
Shirley M. O'Maley passed peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of July 3rd, 2025.
Shirley was born May 12, 1944, to Matthew and Rachel Kielinen. She grew up in Rockport and graduated from Rockport High School, Endicott College (twice), and the Jordan Marsh Company Executive Program. Her second degree was in interior design, which she loved. Even during this most recent hospital stay, she was commenting on the décor and placement of the windows.
The family recently celebrated Shirley and Bob's 60th wedding anniversary, including a family breakfast, and visits to The Rockport Art Association where they first met at a 'RAA Summer Dance' in 1958, and St Paul Lutheran Church where they were married seven years later.
Shirley was for many years generous with her time and support of others. She assisted many family members and friends with transportation and healthcare needs. She was also a volunteer for various programs, including Meals on Wheels and Danvers State Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, son Mark, son Matthew and his partner James, sister Jane Knight and her husband Richard, their son Jason and his family, daughter (and Shirley's God Daughter) Amy and her family, sister-in-law Charlotte O'Maley, close cousins Cynthia Kielinen and Jean Jacobson, and several other cousins.
Following cremation, her ashes will be interred in accordance with her wishes.
A remembrance gathering is being planned. Donations in her memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association at http://act.alz.org.
