Thomas A. Miller Obituary

Thomas A. Miller, 65, left this world peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Tom was born on June 27, 1960, in Gloucester, Mass. He is the son of Thomas A. and Emma (Hill) Miller. Tom grew up in Gloucester and graduated from Gloucester High School Class of 1978. Throughout his high school years, he played tuba after a brief time with the trumpet. Tom worked at many places in town. Gorton's was his last job before moving to Florida for the benefit of his Kimmie Buttons' health. While in Florida he worked at US Sugar. The family moved back up north in 2021 to be with the people he loved the most, his family. Along the way Tom made many, many friends. He left an imprint in so many people's lives. But his family was always foremost in his mind and heart.

A loving husband of 41 years to Cindy, Tom was a pillar of strength and support for his family. He was a devoted father, always there to offer guidance, love, and a hearty laugh. He cherished family gatherings, and his presence at holidays and celebrations brought warmth and joy to those around him. Tom loved to have a laugh with the kids and grandbabies and of course show off his cooking skills any chance he could get.

For Tom, his family wasn't just his passion; it was his life's work. He deeply cherished being a husband, dad and uncle but nothing brought him more joy than being a papa. And according to Aubree he was the "best papa". He was known for his easy-going attitude, and his sense of humor could light up any room.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Cindy, his children Aaron Miller his pride and joy the one that gave him the gift of making him a dad and his wife Melissa of Gloucester, Sarah Borges and her husband Thelmo of New Hampshire, and his Kimmie Buttons who will miss her daddy immensely; 6 grandchildren, Skyla, (dinkydoo) her boyfriend Issiah, Gregory (G man), Thelmo (bud), Gavin (gavy) Aubree (peanut) and Oliver (olliewog). He is also survived by his very loving and devoted sister, Sharon Miller who helped advocate he received the best care; special nieces, Nicole Miller and her fiancé James Riley, Danielle Wilt, and Amber Davidson; great-niece, Lilliane Riley; along with his sisters and brothers-in-law Ursula Eastman, Patricia White, Linda and Robert Johnson and Philip and Kathleen Bodoni, his uncle James Hill, as well as many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. A special thank you to his daughter Sarah who along with Thelmo brought Tom into their home to take the best care ever from washing his hair , making him his coffee while sitting with Moosey who is now always sitting in his chair though he loved strong coffee hers was weak , making sure he took his meds and taking him to every appointment and to Sarah performing CPR which gave us the gift of another week with him.

Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Emma; his nephew, Christopher Miller; his mother and father-in-law, Inga and Salvatore Bodoni; his in laws, Robert White, Michael Eastman, and Linda and Johnni Bodoni; and his aunt, Christine Hill.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Tom's life at St. Ann Church, Holy Family Parish, located at 60 Prospect Street, Gloucester. Friends and family are invited to attend.
