Timothy A. Murphy Obituary

Tim Murphy, retired restaurateur, longtime Rockporter, and unsurpassed Red Sox fan, died suddenly at his home at Millbrook Park on March 12.
Tim was the second oldest of the seven children of Jeremiah V. and Katherine ("Kay") Murphy. He graduated from Rockport High School in 1971 and attended St. Michael's College in Vermont.
Tim maintained many lifelong friendships.
Tim loved Rockport and its people and was widely known for his warm personality and his strong views on national politics. He was a great believer in democracy and a champion of the underdog.
He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and granduncle.
Tim is survived by his mother, Kay, of Rockport; his brother, Jerry and his wife, Mary, of Swampscott; his sister, Betsy Blodgett of Gloucester; his brother Sean and his wife, Deirdre, of Quincy; his sister, Kathy Burley of Gloucester, and his brother, Paul and his wife Marybeth, of Rockport. He is predeceased by his father, Jeremiah, and his brother Kean and by Kean's wife, Andrea.
A celebration of Tim's life will be scheduled and announced at a later date. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
