William L. Armsden Obituary

William L. Armsden, of Gloucester MA, age 72, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, December 18, 2021, after a long illness.
Born in Malden, MA in 1948 to Grace and William "Bud" Armsden. Resident of Stoneham MA for 30 years. Loving husband of Mary "Bonnie" Armsde; Devoted father of William "Chuck" Armsden and wife Sally of Beverly, MA and David Armsden and wife Mary of Morrisonville, NY; Proud and loving grandfather of Connor, Asher, and Lucas Armsden. Also survived by beloved sister, Valerie Armsden; brother, Kurt Armsden and devoted sisters and brothers-in-law.
Bill graduated from Salem State College in 1971 and went on to work in various technical service positions until rising to become the Global Manager of Training for the Darex division of W.R. Grace. Bill loved meeting new people and made many friends in many different countries. Known as an expert in his field, Bill's technical expertise was valued and certainly missed by his colleagues when he retired in 2016.
Bill was an avid gardener who enjoyed growing and sharing his harvest every year. His last harvest was possibly his best and was grown about 30 feet from the Blynman Canal, where he enjoyed watching the fishing boats go in and out to the harbor. Bill was also a lifelong musician who had played in a band in high school called The Chanticleers and had many gigs up and down the North Shore. He collected songs in a songbook and liked to sing them with his wife Bonnie. They made beautiful harmony together in life and in song.
The family would like to thank the Care Dimensions team for their compassion and great care that they gave to our father and husband.
His visiting hours will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
Burial will be held privately. In keeping with the with his wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
