He was predeceased by: his parents, Angelo Costello and Evelyn Costello (Giardino). He is survived by: his wife Lawrene Costello (Smith) of Women's Army Corps; his children, John (Jamie Costello) and Katherine (Peter McGowan); his grandson James; his children, Sara Costello and Daniel (Jennifer Costello); and his grandson Jack.
