He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Judith "Judy" Levenson Chernaik; his parents, Joseph Chernaik and Ruth Chernaik; his children, Andrew Chernaik and Carol Chernaik Rumpler; his grandchildren, Asa Chernaik, Skye Chernaik and Serena Rumpler; and his brothers, Richard Chernaik and Warren Chernaik.
