Barbara R. (Makin) MacPhee Obituary
We announce the death of Barbara R. (Makin) MacPhee (Holden, Massachusetts), who passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Barbara will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Makin and Ruth Makin (Holtz). She is survived by: her husband Gordon W. MacPhee of Holden; her children, Kimberlee Herron (Richard) of Boylston, Dr. Keelee MacPhee of Durham and Jonathan MacPhee (Anne Tiffin) of Acton; her granddaughters, Mikayla and Makenzy; and her siblings, James Makin (Nancy) of Pennsylvania and Doris Battisti (Rick) of Georgia. She is also survived by many extended family members, friends.
Her passion for beekeeping led her to become President of the Worcester County Beekeepers Association, and when the organization faced challenges following the COVID pandemic, Barbara stepped forward once again at the age of 80 to lead and help revitalize the association she loved.
