She was predeceased by: her husband John Whyte Patterson; her daughter Beth J. Patterson; her siblings, Gurli Carlson and Folke Elof Swenson; and her parents, Gustaf Swenson and Gerda Swenson (Welin).

She is survived by: her daughters, Nancy Hancock, Jill Patterson and Sue Haney; her grandchildren, Scott Hancock, Karen Hancock, Sarah Knox, Adam Steele and Molly Steele; her great grandchildren, Erin Hancock, Kate Hancock and Callan Steele; and her caregiver Winnie Njuguna. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
