She was predeceased by: her husband Howard M. Cohen; her parents, Reverend Walter Ruth and Marguerite Ruth; and her sister Carol R. Darcy. She is survived by: her daughter Dr. Cynthia Ruth Cohen (Dean Bastarache) of Sterling, MA; her niece Bishop Suzanne Darcy Dillahunt; and her nephews, Paul Cohen, Lawrence Cohen, NJ and Andrew Cohen of Arlington, VA..
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (346 Shrewsbury St, Holden, MA 01520).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood (plannedparenthoodaction.org) in Joy's name.
