She was predeceased by: her parents, Sallie Haraden Knodell and J. Edgar Knodell; her husband Frederick C. Carreiro, Jr. of Brookline; and her sister Nancy Knodell McMorrow of Orleans. She is survived by: her niece Jane M. Ray (Scott); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael, Connor (Anna) and Alexis of Boston; her nephew Jeffrey McMorrow of Orleans; her sister-in-law Shirley Abberton Carreiro (late Richard Carreiro) of Nova Scotia; and her nieces and nephews, Paul (Agnes) of Nova Scotia, Lisa (Sandi) of Ontario, Donna (Lawrence) of Manitoba, Dr. Stephen (Marlene) of Quebec and Linda (Richard) of Calgary.
It was Joan's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the Centerville Library Book Store.
