It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald N. Smith of Lancaster, Massachusetts, born in Concord, Massachusetts, who passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Lester Smith and Carrollinn Smith (Johansson); and his brothers, Chandler Smith of Marlborough, MA and Bradford Smith of Farmington, ME.. He is survived by : his wife Janet F. Smith (Fitzgerald) of Lancaster, MA.; his children, Geoffrey Smith (Charisse) of Wilmington, MA and Johanna Smith of Lancaster, MA; his grandchildren, Emma, Victoria and Charlie; his brother Craig Smith (Larry Jacobsen) of Portland, OR; his sister-in-law Juanita Smith of Farmington, ME.; his brother Peter; and his sister-in-law Jill Hall of Natick, Massachusetts.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In December 2000, he received the SePro Corp's prestigious award for "Stewardship of Our Nations Water Resources and Contributions to the Aquatic Industry" given to one individual each year.
