He was predeceased by: his siblings, Robert of York, ME and Joyce Powers of Littleton, MA.; and his parents, Clifford McCarthy and Gladys McCarthy. He is survived by: his wife Joan; his children, Carl (Hania) of New York, NY, Christa of Reading, MA and Elizabeth of Haverhill, MA; and his brother Clifford Jr. of Gloucester, MA.. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
