He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Smachetti and Rosa Smachetti; and his siblings, Frederick Smachetti (Elizabeth), Ann Tarmey (Richard), Julia Duffy (James) and Norma Walker (David).

He is survived by: his child Thomas Smachetti; his stepsons, Michael and Christopher Lyng; his daughter Jessica Jill Tisdale (Stephen); his grandchildren, TJ, Cami, Jared, Tucker and Nora; his great grandchildren, Raelynn, Henry, Cayden and Charlotte; and his close friend Jean Killackey.
