It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Effie (Raikos) Kafasis (Lowell, Massachusetts), who passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 104, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Costas Raikos and Agnes Raikos (Halamoutis); her former husband Nicholas Kafasis; and her siblings, John Raikos, Helen Kalantzakos and George Raikos.
She is survived by: her husband Kafasis Furs; her children, Joanne Papadonis, Naomi Kastanas, James Kafasis, Charles Kafasis and Gail Koustas; her children-in-law, Stanley Kastanas, Christina Kafasis and Charles Koustas; her grandchildren, Nicholas Papadonis, DoraThea Kastanas, Michael Kastanas, EphiGenia Kastanas, Dmitri Koustas, Ariana Arfanakis, Nicolette Kafasis and Nicholas Kafasis; and her great grandchildren, Constantine, Evie, Theo Arfanakis, Neomi Barre and Ema Koustas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 62 Lewis St., Lowell, MA 01854.
