Garland John Nietenhoefer Obituary
LOWELL, MA. Garland John Nietenhoefer, 60, of Lowell, passed away
unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 15 at his home. He was the widower
of the late Kathleen Beatrice (Bourbeau) Nietenhoefer who passed away in 2013
after sharing 21 years of marriage.
A son of Freda L. (Brucks) Kammer and the late Marvin H.F. Nietenhoefer of Calliham, TX. Born on February 3, 1957 in Hondo, TX, he was raised on the family farm and went to school in Hondo. His senior year he was drum major for the Mighty Hondo Owl Band. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country on a submarine tender. His favorite place on the ship was in the engine room, listening to the hum of the giant turbo diesel engines.
After being honorably discharged, he lived in San Diego, California for several years. Later finding his way to Colorado where he gained a bachelor's degree in welding, met Kathy in 1988 and married her on June 14, 1992. They eventually settled in the city of Lowell, MA in 1993.
He enrolled in Locksmithing Feburaury 2004, and graduated Feburaury 2007.
Later in life, he made the deans list, Feburaury 2013, while studing Environmental Science at Middlesex Community College. His dream was to be a Ranger, but also he was intrigued by waste water treatment.
He learned to cook at an early age and enjoyed it all his life sharing it with family and friends at every chance he got.
Garland also enjoyed socializing, making friends everywhere he went, helping his neighbors, also learning about technology & wilderness survival.
Besides his Mother, Freda, he is survived by; His sons, Timothy
Nietenhoefer and his wife, Shannon Vielleux-Nietenhoefer of Ayer;
Johnathon Nietenhoefer his fiance, Caitlin Sabin, and 2 grandchildren and another
on the way, of Lincoln, NE; His brothers, Roger of Pleasanton, TX and Randal Nietenhoefer of Calliham, TX;
He is also survived by his Kammer siblings, JoAnn, Becky, Kay, Bobby and
Robby along with their families; His loving neighbors and a nation wide list of friends.
Friends and family are invited to the memorial being held at Mahoney's Funeral home, on Sunday November 26.
Visiting hours will be 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Military funeral honors immediately following.
