He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Garthe and Lillian M. Garthe (Bulette); and his siblings, David, Richard, Donald Garthe and Pamela Ayotte.

He is survived by: his wife Linda D. Garthe (Brown); his children, Gary K. Garthe of Nashua, NH, Lynne M. Garthe (Neco Alves) of Lowell, MA and George F. Garthe (Kelli) of Wilton, NH; his grandchildren, Melissa C. Hubbard, Austin D. Garthe, Samantha L. Garthe, Henry A. Garthe, Nathan Eliopoulos, Nora Eliopoulos, Stephanie Alves and Luis Fernando Alves; his great grandchildren, Liam Sweeney, Cyrus Gonzalez and Lyara Gonzalez; his siblings, Reverend Eric O. Garthe (Joanne) of Baltimore, MD, Janice Shackleford of Wilton, NH, Emilie Milinazzo of Lowell, MA and Peggy Garthe of Hampton, NH; his sisters-in-law, Aline Brown and Bonnie Garthe of Westford, MA; and his friend Robert Levesque. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
