He was predeceased by: his father Firmino Goncalves; and his daughter Maria Carmody. He is survived by: his wife Ascencao Goncalves (Lopes); his children, Hernani "Nundi" Goncalves (Anne), Fernanda Scully and Zelia Goncalves; and his siblings, Tony Goncalves (Jenny) and Grace Baltasar. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
