Anne (M.Mooney) Bresnahan Obituary

Anne M. (Mooney) Bresnahan, age 87, passed away on July 23, 2020. The lifelong resident of Lynn was born on January 18, 1933 to Walter and Anna (Hannon) Mooney. She was a 1950 graduate of St Mary's Girls High School and went on to attend Boston College Intown and Burdette College.

Anne started her career at General Electric West Lynn Works. Typing 108 words per minute and skilled in shorthand (which she used throughout her life), she excelled as an executive secretary in GE's Aircraft Instrument Sales division. The natural beauty was often photographed and featured in General Electric news publications alongside new GE products or in articles highlighting her professional accomplishments.

In 1958, Anne took a break from her career to get married and raise her family, which included three daughters who she loved unconditionally. When she reentered the workforce later in life, she returned to the General Electric campus in an administrative role for the Defense Contract Audit Agency, an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. Anne worked for DCAA until her retirement in 1997.

Anne had a passion and talent for music. In her younger years, she took voice and piano lessons and sang at church and weddings. When family came to visit her at Life Care Center of the North Shore, where she resided for the last seven years, Anne would ask them to play Irish tunes and Elvis songs on their phones. She was also an avid reader of biographies and enjoyed crossword puzzles.

Anne is survived by her daughters Kathleen Lozzi and her husband Wayne, Maura Russell and her husband Frederick, and Eileen Bresnahan, all of Lynn. She leaves her grandchildren Beth, Amy, Steven, Wayne, Christopher, Zachary, and Carmel. She also leaves three great grandchildren Devin, Kayden, and Emma as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear brother Richard J. Mooney, her grandson Joseph Russell, and her former husband Jeremiah Bresnahan.

She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, a loving grandmother, a loyal friend, and a faithful servant of God. Anne will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Service information: A memorial funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 31 at St. Mary's Church, 8 South Common St., Lynn. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Anne's memory to St. Mary's Church, 8 South Common St., Lynn, MA 01902 or to My Brother's Table, 98 Willow St., Lynn, MA 01901.

Bridget Reilly wrote a sympathy message

“Sincere sympathies to Mrs Mooney Bresnahans family. The late Jeremiah was s close friend of my uncle (sadly departed) Monsignor John Sheridan . We met Jeremiah in Malibu when visiting in 1985 Jeremiah came to Ireland on a holiday and stayed with us. He was larger than life in the best way and was a most admirable character whose good works were out of the public eye. Would love to have a chat with someone in his family. He spoke proudly of you all. [email protected]
