He was predeceased by: his parents, Nicholas Venetsanakos and Kalliope Venetsanakos (Skalkos); his wife Dolores F. Venetsanakos; his siblings, Peter Venetsanakos, Penny Gikas (Venetsanakos), Zoe Mihalaros (Venetsanakos) and Joanne Diantgikis (Venetsanakos); and his brothers-in-law, Richard "Dick" Anthony, George Grimbilas, John Yannios, John Gikas, Manuel Mihalaros and Leo Diantgikis.
He is survived by: his children, Joyce Venetsanakos, Christine Flores (Gene) and James Venetsanakos II (Angela); his grandchildren, Michael Flores and Nayommi Venetsanakos; his great grandchildren, Wesley and Austin Flores; his siblings, Kathy Anthony (Venetsanakos), Maria Grimbilas (Venetsanakos), Georgia Yannios (Venetsanakos) and Ernie (Katina "Kathy" Venetsanakos); and his sister-in-law Panagiota "Pota" Venetsanakos.
