He is survived by: his wife Marcia Lagerwey; his brother Curtis Hoekzema (Gloria); his siblings-in-law, Wallace Lagerwey (Marcia), John Lagerwey (Veronique), Nelva Lagerwey-TeBrake (Wayne) and Mark Lagerwey (Kerri Vrijhof); his sons, Andrew Hoekzema and Jonathan Hoekzema (Lorena); his stepchildren, Karin Commeret and Dylan Commeret; and his grandchildren, Meike Cornell-Hoekzema, Jayden Hoekzema, Maverick Hoekzema, Austin Hoekzema, Lorenzo Hoekzema, Wilhelmina Commeret and Mateo Commeret. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.

Loren loved the arts and became a skilled sketch artist during the pandemic.

He created hundreds of memorials to life's simple but visible moments of beauty and love.
