We announce the death of Edward Michael McCarthy of Marblehead, Massachusetts, who passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 87. Edward will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Carver McCarthy; his parents, John C. and Mary F. McCarthy; and his siblings, John McCarthy, Jane McCarthy, Jacqueline Archbold (John) and Marilyn Rodham (Edward).
He is survived by: his children, Stephen McCarthy of Charleston, SC and Erin McCarthy-Freiberger (Philip Freiberger) of Marblehead; his grandchildren, Ryan Freiberger, Sean Freiberger and Megan Freiberger-Corbett (Daniel Corbett); his great grandchild Renee Corbett; his sister-in-law Patricia Dzierazk McCarthy; and his nieces and nephews, John McCarthy (Dawn McCarthy), Kathy McCarthy Marino (Donald Marino), Mary Landry, Jane Winslow and Christopher Archbold (Tracy).
