She was predeceased by: her husband John B. Hooper; her daughter Lucy Hooper Favaloro; her siblings, Sarah Colt and Leonard B. Colt; and her parents, Leonard Colt Sr. and Joan Colt (Borden) of Little Compton, RI..

She is survived by: her sister Katharine C. Boden; her children, Sarah, George (Jane) and Jefferson (Susan); and her grandchildren, Jennifer Lee-Hooper, Caroline, James, Abigail and John Hooper.

In lieu of flowers, Joan has asked instead for donations to be made to the Marblehead Arts Association, 8 Hooper Street, Marblehead, MA 01945.
