He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter May and Elsie May (Collett); his wife Marjorie (Carroll); and his brothers, Walter R and Robert E May.

He is survived by: his sons, David May (Patricia) of Denver, Dennis May of Amsterdam and Joseph May (Sandra) of Marlborough; and his grandchildren, Michael May (Elyse) of Foxborough, Andrew May (Emily Denault) of Framingham, Kelly May (Zachary Diehl) of New York City, Meaghan, Benjamin (Tucker Hildreth), Kaitlyn (James Rolston) and Erinn May (Jeremy Makuch) of New York City.
