He is survived by: his children, Greg, Suzanne, Walter Jr., Julie and Eric; his wife Janet Fender; his close friends, Greg, Maureen Fender, Suzanne, Matthew Boynton, Walter Jr., Janice Fender, Julie Fender, Dan Zobel, Eric and Renee Fender; his grandchildren, Lauren Fender, Stacia Boynton, Tyler Fender, Miranda Boynton, Sarah Fender, Geoffrey Fender, Cole Fender and Emma Fender; his great grandchildren, Ambrose Fender, Joseph, Rosemary, Victoria Belisimo and Quinn Fender; and his siblings, Becky Mulkern and Billy Fender.
The military honors will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the First Parish Church (842 Tremont St, Duxbury, MA 02332). A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the The Magical Moon Farm (575 Summer St, Marshfield, MA 02050).
