He was predeceased by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Mendes (Kearney); and his parents, Christian and Isadora (Gomes). He is survived by: his siblings, Jenny Pina, Clara DeBarros, Dorothy Johnson, Mary DaLuze, John Mendes, Lino Mendes, Richard Mendes, Leonard Mendes and Edward Mendes; his son-in-law Fredrick Moore; and his children, Esther "Denise" Moore of St. Petersburg, FL, Janise Mendes (Eugene) of Port St, Robin Santiago (Bruce Sr.) of Wareham, MA, Sherrie Donalson (Sammy) of Vero Beach, FL, James Mendes, Jr. (Michele) of Hyannis, MA, Elaina Mendes (Robert) of Hyannis, MA and Crystal Reed (Quincy) of Douglasville, GA.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Zion Union Church (805 Attucks Ln, Hyannis, MA 02601). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at the Marstons Mills Cemetery.
