James left this world on September 27, 2025 at the age of 70, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alves Jr. and Sarah Alves (Pacheco); and his brothers, Steven and David Alves. He is survived by: his children, Rachel Alves of Mattapoisett, James Alves II of Mattapoisett and Michael Alves of Fairhaven; his grandsons, Wayne Andrews, Dylan Andrews and Blake Messier; his partner's sons, Zachary and Cory Messier; and his brother John "Jack" Alves III of Fairhaven. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
