He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilda Fernandes and Joao Fernandes. He is survived by: his wife Odete Fernandes; his daughters, Sandra Carangelo (Chris-Michael Carangelo) of North Smithfield and Elizabeth Cottrell (Ted Cottrell) of Melrose, Massachusetts.; his grandchildren, Caleb, Isabella and Gabriel Cottrell; and his siblings, Orlando Fernandes and Gloria Medeiros of Portugal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
