He was predeceased by: his wife Mildred V. "Dolly" Tobey; and his parents, Vernon M. Tobey and Catherine A. Tobey (Flynn). He is survived by: his children, Susan Herook (Gerard) of Melrose, Richard V. Tobey Jr. (Carmela) of Wakefield and William P. Tobey of Lowell; and his grandchildren, Nicole, Christopher, Andrew, Matthew and Julia. He is also survived by relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 11 Grove St., Wakefield, MA 01880.
