He was predeceased by: his parents, Jean L. Surette and Francoise Surette (Fitzgerald); and his siblings, Charles Fitzgerald, Donald Surette, Alvina Pothier, Henry Surette, Bertelle Surette, Herbert Surette and Regina Leblanc.
He is survived by: his wife Angele Marie Surette (Fitzgerald) of Methuen; his children, Alice Bourque (Sylvester "Happy), Andrea Gautreau (Wayne) of Palm Coast, Lisa Courtenay (Michael) of Derry, NH and Joseph Surette, Jr. (Angelina) of Manchester, NH; his grandchildren, Raymond, Douglas, Janelle, Nicholas, Madeline, Andrea, Michael, Ryan, Eric, John and Tara; and his sister Loretta Saulnier (Norman) of Nova Scotia, Canada. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
