He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Leary and Josephine Leary (Atcher); his stepsons, John Linehan and Jimmy Shortell; and his sibling Chief David T. Leary, Sr. (Robert D. Leary).
He is survived by: his wife Florence Leary (Bash); his children, Richard C. "Chuck" Leary, Jr. (Jody) of Winslow and Sheila Hubbard (Rob) of Rochester; his stepson Mark Linehan (Melanie) of Salem; his grandchildren, Olivia, Paige, Joseph, Nick, Valerie, Joe, Katie, Billie, Steven, Austin, Dallas, Michael, Mandy, Derek and Sarah; and his nieces and nephews, Joe, Paul, Tommy, Debbie, Dawn and Dan. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the O'Donnell Cremations-Funerals (167 Maple St, Danvers, MA 01923). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
