He is survived by : his wife Shirley Jean (Zak); his children, Patricia Gillis (Kevin) of Plymouth, Colleen Vasques (Joseph) of Norton, Michael of Riverview, Thomas (Jennifer) of Norfolk and John (Cynthia) of Santa Cruz; his grandchildren, Sean, Bianca, Benjamin, Kyle, William, Zak, Daisy and Emily Ryan; his son Matthew Gillis; and his siblings, Mary Ann Rechtien of Seattle, Jane Carrell of Illinois and Patrick Ryan of Georgia.

A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, May 15th 2024 at 11:30 AM at 101 Wolcott Rd, Milton, MA 02186.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MFHC Benevolent Fund, 1399 Blue Hill Ave, Milton MA 02186, or to the homeless shelter St. Francis House, P.O. Box 120499, Boston MA 02112-0499.
