He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife Janet McIlveen (Duggan); his daughters, Wendy Dickinson (Ron) and Susan Murphy (Mark); his grandchildren, Max Dickinson (Kelsey Valentine), Hannah Dickinson, Leah Murphy (Jared Williams) and Sarah Murphy; and his siblings, Jean Long and Margaret Long of Machias, ME. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

“I was saddened to hear that Bob had passed. Both of us stepped up to serve the Town of Nahant as Selectmen. Just this last May, as we were celebrating the beauty of East Point through art, dance and song, he generously made his property available to celebrants. who shared his love for our community.
