We are sad to announce that, on March 10, 2026, at the age of 72, Charlene E. Mendes of New Bedford, Massachusetts passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George William Grovell and Charlotte Armstrong Mendes; her son Jordan S. Mendes; her godparents, Robert and Ann Monteiro; her siblings, Paul Mendes, Marjorie Mendes, Rebecca Mendes, Kenneth Mendes, Brian Mendes, Kelly Mendes, Sandra Mendes, Karen Mendes, Dawn Mendes and Terry Mendes; and her aunts and uncles, Harriet Mendes, Alberta Mendes Butler, Charles Mendes and Gilbert Mendes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Shania Monteiro (late Allan) of Hyannis, Sekenna Mendes (Claudel Butler) of Fairhaven and Lateisha Mendes (Jayson Correia) of Fall River; her godchild Shailene "Coco" Mendes; her siblings, David Mendes, Greg Mendes, Wendy Mendes and Kim Mendes; her uncle Francis Mendes; her grandchildren, Ciara Monteiro, Allan Monteiro, Jr., Elijah Monteiro, Naomi Monteiro, Destiny Hernandez, Tiara Monteiro, Nylynn Hernandez, Nyasiah Butler, Lebron Mendes, Aidan Mendes and Kamiyah Correia; and her great grandchildren, Davina Johnson, Anthony Monteiro, Miko Johnson and Kuh'Tori Monteiro. She is also survived by several other Godchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
