He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Mello and Maria Gloria Mello; and his wife Carol Ann De Mello (Schell). He is survived by: his children, Kerry L. Girard (Scott) and Duane E. De Mello (Cindy); his brothers, Joseph De Mello (Linda) and Nobert De Mello (Cheryl); and his grandchildren, Loriann Ralat (Carlos), Shelby Franco (Alec), Emily King (Darren), Alison Girard (William Tivey), Nichole Girard (Ryan St), Liam De Mello, Austin and Lillian Caruso. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rock Funeral Home (1285 Ashley Blvd, New Bedford, MA 02745). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 9:00 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John Neumann Church (157 Middleboro Rd, East Freetown, MA 02717).
