It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Francisco D. Joia of New Bedford, Massachusetts, who passed away at the age of 77, on January 6, 2026. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though Francisco may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Francisco touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Francisco Vitoriano Joia and Celeste Joia (Rosa); his siblings, José Joia, João Joia, Alexandrina Joia and Odete Ferreira; and his parents-in-law, Manuel and Isabel Hilario.
He is survived by: his former wife Lourdes Maria Hilario of New Bedford; and his sons, John Joia of St. Augustine and Richard M. Joia (late Heidi Boyle) of New Bedford. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
